Join City of Boston Archaeologist Joe Bagley on a walking tour of Downtown’s oldest surviving buildings featured in his recent book, Boston's Oldest Buildings and Where to Find Them. This tour features insights into the hidden and diverse histories of these buildings, all of which date to before the American Revolution, as well as sites of current and former buildings that helped shape the history of the historic preservation movement in Boston. NEHGS Curator of Special Collections Curt DiCamillo will add commentary on this not-to-be missed evocative journey into Boston’s past.Full list of tour locations coming soon.

About our Tour Leaders

Joseph (Joe) M. Bagley is the City Archaeologist of Boston, a historic preservationist, and staff member of the Boston Landmarks Commission. He has worked previously for the Massachusetts Historical Commission and Maine Historic Preservation Commission. In 2016, Joe published the award-winning A History of Boston in 50 Artifacts.

Curt DiCamillo, is the Curator of Special Collections at American Ancestors NEHGS. Before he came to NEHGS, he worked for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the National Trust for Scotland. He is a recognized authority on the British country house.
