The Stones Speak: A Walking Tour of Granary and Kings Chapel Burying Grounds

Description

Friday, October 29, 3:00 – 4:30 PM, Rain or Shine
Led by David Allen Lambert, Chief Genealogist at American Ancestors
Cost: $25

Tip toe through the tombstones of Boston’s oldest burying grounds—Kings Chapel Burying Ground (1630) and Granary Burying Ground (1660)—with genealogist, historian, and author David Allen Lambert. David will lead us to the final resting place of Boston’s early leaders and notables, including John Winthrop, John Cotton, and Mary Chilton; Revolutionary War-era patriots Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Robert Treat Paine; and even Charles Ewer, the first president of New England Historic Genealogical Society. Hear of these Bostonians’ contributions to American history, their continued influence on today’s society, and about the stones and carved symbols that adorn their eternal homes.
